Thanks to everyone who helped weed today, the garden looks great!
Very dry... but I think we'll have a bumper crop of tomatoes soon...
As for weeding...
You don't need any special tools for weeding, just your hands...! of course if you have any hand tools that you like to use you can bring them...
When I weed I usually start by finding a vegetable plant that I recognize, then I follow the stem of the plant to the earth and start weeding away from the plant's stem... Eli and I weeded around one of the brussels sprouts today
Brussels Sprout surrounded by weeds |
Carefully working the weeds away from the stem, in this case there are some carrots close by so I was careful not to pull up the carrots. |
The weeding begins... I'm not a perfectionist and as long as the weeds aren't choking out the plant they actually help to trap moisture and keep the plants thirst quenched. |
Weeding continues.... |
Note all the carrot tops in the foreground. |
Whacking weeds and mowing the grass may be the next jobs lost to the robot invasion, but will humans even put up a fight?

Here are some pics of weeds, this one looks like a corn plant..
Looks like a corn plant but it a weed! |
This one looks like a potato! |
That one in the middle with the delicate detail leaf is a carrot top! |

Surveying the Garden, The Davidiyan's came early and harvested peas hanging in the plastic bag! Thanks Dina! |
Eli adds more to the bag! |
Just couldn't wait to see what was happening underground as we pulled this little carrot out! |
3 pounds of snap peas donated to bootstraps, just the beginning... |
The scale verifies the amount! |
